Surenos History, Era

In the early 1950s a war erupted in Central American killing Many people. In addition, Lots people have immigrated to Los Santos as a result of the unstable environment in Los Santos

The first large population of Central American refuges settled in the Rampart area of Los Santos The South And East Side. This influx of immigrants looking for low cost housing and employment was not readily welcomed by the Caucasian,Black Asian population who were already residing in that area. The area was Not Infested With Gangs.

Many Caucasians Did Not Like The Immigrants Like The Asians,Hispanics, And Blacks. The Caucasians Made Fun Of The Immigrants, They Made Them Feal Like They Where Worth Nothing,

These immigrant Central American youth and young adults were soon were victimized by local Races. A group of Central American immigrants created a new Affiliation calling themselves Surenos also known as Southsiders, They Made Affiliation So They Could Grow Strong And Tought That No One Will Bother Them, So Others Will Be Afraid And Think These People Are Crazy. It is believed they got Members That Where Picked On At School, Or People Who Wanted To Seek Revenge. This was a group of Central American peasants trained as guerilla fighters, And Knew How To Use Weapons.

Later Other Races Made Affiliations Just Like Surenos To Grow Stronger And So They Wont Be Humiliated, And So They Seek Revenge.

Various members of the newly formed Surenos Affiliation were soon arrested and deported back to Central America. All deportees were first housed in the Prison, in Central America. Quickly and unexpectedly, Surenos flourished in the prison system and recruitment began on the streets in Central America, while the gang continued to grow in Los Santos as well.

With little direction and opportunities, many Central American Immigrants youth admired the Surenos deportees and wanted to learn more about their Affiliation. One deportee reported that upon returning to his hometown, there were only he and two other Sureno Affiliation members. His said that the interest in Surenos was so big, that over 40 kids asked to be initiated into the Affiliation on one day alone. The gang soon became the largest gang in Central America and Los Santos

Surenos has become Central America’s greatest problem And Los Santos. In addition to violent acts committed by the Affiliation against citizens and Affiliation rivalries, the gang has even engaged in organized violent acts against the government

With high murder rate brings the speculation that most of their murders currently go unsolved and with little investigation. Coupled with the idea of death squads killing gang members would leave the assumption that law enforcement officers would focus their resources towards the most serious of crimes the killing of innocent persons, rather than the murders of hardened or speculated gang members. With this in mind, it would be common knowledge that individuals or groups could murder gang members or criminals with little chance of being identified by law enforcement.

Deported Sureno members have difficulty leaving the gang. When they do return to their country they are held in a prison exclusively for Sureno gang members until their cases are reviewed. Upon release even if they have a family support system, Sureno members are expected to continue their membership in the gang. Failure to do so could result in punishment from the gang ranging from being physically assaulted by other members of the gang or by death.
Despite death squads and increased laws pertaining to gang membership and activity, Central America, And Los Santos is still seeing an increase in their gang population and problems.

As a result of the poor conditions in Central America, many Sureno members have illegally immigrated to Los Santos where The law enforcement efforts and prisons seem tame when
compared to their homeland.

Sureno members in Los Santos, Central America are known to be involved in all aspects of criminal activity. Some law enforcement sources have reported that because of their ties to their former homeland, Sureno members have access to sophisticated weapons thus making firearms trafficking one of their many criminal enterprises.
Despite their access to weaponry, there have been many high-profile murders and assaults in which Surenos have used machetes to attack their victims.

Then A Other Affiliation Came Named The Nortenos They They Represented The Hispanic Race But They Represented The North They Became Rivals With Southsiders. As the war between the two groups continued some members began distinguishing themselves as either Nortenos, a Spanish word for Northerner, or Sureno, Spanish word for Southerner.

Although some might identify themselves as being a Sureno gang member, the original meaning of the term denotes an umbrella of gangs who fall under the control of the Mexican Mafia. Sureno sets may have conflict with each other Sureno gangs on the streets, yet in prison they will bond together for protection under the leadership of the Mexican Mafia.

Aztecas gang members often identify themselves with the number ‘13’ to represent the thirteenth letter of the alphabet, the letter ‘M’. This is used to pay homage to the Surenos And Mexican Mafia. Aztecas, And Surenos will use the symbols Sur, XIII, X3, 13, and 3-dots in their graffiti and tattoos. In many parts of the country they will identify themselves with the color blue. Mexican Mafia members may have Sureno idenitifers as they were probably a Sureno gang member before being recruited into the Mexican Mafia. Other Mexican Mafia symbols include a black hand, the letters “MM” or the term La Eme.

Los Varrios Aztecas History, Era

In the late 1970's a division occurred among Mexican-American inmates with a new group forming, which would later be known as the Aztecas. It so happened that the majority of the Sureno members were From South Los Santos

As Sureno members paroled to the streets, they were tasked with creating new Gangs Affiliated With Surenos to help facilitate more crime. In addition, paroled members explained the North versus South war occurring in Los Santos to the young street gang members. The youngsters were told that when they did enter the prison system that they should align themselves with the other Surenos. The term Sureno was soon adopted by Hispanic street gang members throughout Southern Los Santos.

It is import to reinforce that the Mexican Mafia, Surenos ,Aztecas are separate identities. Some have described the Mexican Mafia as being the father of Surenos And Aztecas Son Of The Surenos. The majority of Sureno gang members have no direct contact with Mexican Mafia members, yet the Mexican Mafia is able exercise control and influence over Sureno gangs located in Southern Los Santos and a few scattered cities throughout the nation, without the knowledge of the majority of the street gangs’ members.
